May was a busy month for Qorix. A major open-source milestone, speaking engagements on stages across Europe and the US, thought leadership coverage in industry media, and international certifications for our India team. Here is what happened.

Eclipse S-CORE Release 0.7 – Built for the Real World
On May 11, the Eclipse S-CORE community released version 0.7 of its open-source middleware stack for software-defined vehicles. This release is less about new features and more about something harder to achieve: the engineering foundations that determine whether open-source middleware can actually enter series production.
Qorix focused its contributions on three areas:
- Consistent Stack. S-CORE is now formally defined as a continuously validated, coherent stack — not a loose collection of independent modules. For OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, this means planning security: no surprises at integration time.
- Testing and Traceability. Integration tests now link directly to requirements. Docs-as-code tooling scans artifacts across modules, and traceability links point to the correct version. This is the foundation for certifiability — without it, no series program can be signed off.
- Rust Readiness. Rust has been formally approved for ASIL-B components in S-CORE 1.0. Rust eliminates entire classes of memory-related software defects by design — a significant step toward modern, safe automotive software engineering.

ASSC, Munich – The Risk Isn’t Open Source. The Risk Is the Wrong Partner.

Paula Herzog, Head of Product Program Management at Qorix, presented at the Automotive Software Strategies Conference in Munich. Her topic: what it actually takes to industrialize Eclipse S-CORE for safety-critical, real-time automotive programs.
CORE MESSAGE
Production readiness is not a feature list. It requires deterministic system behaviour, functional safety, lifecycle management, and the discipline to make complex mixed-criticality stacks perform reliably under real program conditions – across a vehicle lifecycle of 10 to 15 years.

3rd SDV Convergence Conference, Brussels – 5 Milestones in 18 Months. The SDV Community Is Moving Fast.

Qorix was present with two contributions at one of Europe’s most selective SDV gatherings – approximately 70 participants from OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, EU research programs, and open-source platforms. The conference is part of the European Digital Vehicle of the Future Initiative, chaired by Dirk Walliser, EU Technical Ambassador for the Digital Vehicle.

Markus Schupfner, CEO, moderated Session 1 on SDV and AD platforms. The session brought together executives and architects from OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and open-source platform leaders to debate the state of SDV convergence – and what it will take to move from architecture discussions to series programs. A key topic: the Eclipse S-CORE roadmap beyond Release 1.0, and what the industry needs to commit to in order to turn open-source foundations into production-ready infrastructure at scale.

Paula Herzog, Head of Product Program Management, presented in Session 3 alongside representatives from BMW, Renault, and Mercedes-Benz. Her presentation made the case for Eclipse S-CORE as a model for how open-source automotive software can actually move at software speed: 5 milestones delivered in 18 months, on a 2 to 4-week sprint cycle, with growing industry adoption. Her central argument: the bottleneck is no longer the technology. It is the pace at which funding frameworks and governance processes can follow. EU institutions and the automotive industry need to align on this urgency if the vision of a shared, open software foundation for the vehicle of the future is to become reality.
KEY MESSAGE
Eclipse S-CORE delivers on a 2 to 4-week sprint cycle. For the SDV ecosystem to move at software speed, funding and governance frameworks need to match that pace — and the appetite to do so is clearly there.
Red Hat Summit, Atlanta – From Open Source to the Road: Qorix and Red Hat on Stage in Atlanta

Alex Filatov, Senior VP at Qorix, took the stage at Red Hat Summit 2026 in Atlanta together with Shawn Davis, Senior Director of Engineering at Red Hat. Their session demonstrated how Red Hat In-Vehicle OS and Eclipse S-CORE – brought to series production readiness by Qorix – close the gap between an open-source foundation and a production-ready automotive stack.
The session addressed one of the most pressing questions in the SDV industry: open-source availability does not equal production readiness. The real decision for OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers is not whether to use open source – but whether to carry the full integration burden alone, or to work with a partner who has already done it. Qorix and Red Hat presented a joint reference architecture that shows exactly what that partnership looks like in practice: deterministic execution, functional safety, and system-level integration across mixed-criticality environments.
CENTRAL MESSAGE
Open-source availability does not equal production readiness. The real question for OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers is not whether to use open source – but whether to carry the full integration burden alone, or to work with the right partner.
